Destined to Witness-Growing up Black in Nazi Germany
The purpose of this blog is to get national distribution
for the movie “Destined to Witness” Growing up Black in Nazi Germany.
The movie was produced as a two-part special in Germany, and a lady in
Hamburg was so impressed by the film she added English subtitles and
posted it on YouTube. This is a labor of love by the viewer and to my
knowledge, have never heard of anyone taking the time to make certain
everyone had an opportunity to see the film. After viewing the film, I
agree.
A German movie based on the life of Hans Massaquoi who was born in 1926,
the son of a German mother and a father who was a high-ranking officer
in the Liberia consulate. Mr. Massaquoi became a journalist for Jet and
Ebony Magazine and I remember reading about his story growing up in the
50s.
As a semi-retired TV journalist, and African American, I feel very
strongly about this movie. Social networking and Twitter are going to
revolutionize news and information, and this is my mission to make
certain that “Destined to Witness” is nominated as best foreign film. My
starting point? Here is an email I sent to NPR, explaining that
listeners have become cyber journalist, and national media had better
get their act together if they expect to survive.
Here is a link to the movie, what do you think? If you are as impressed
as I was, please help me with this project. The start date is June 22,
2009, and want to monitor this until its completion.
Thank you for your time and consideration,
Mac McAllister
